Description
This painting and a companion piece, called "Follow the Leader" shows the joy of feeling the water from overhead at the Crown Fountain in Millennium Park, in Chicago.
The fountain consists of two 50-foot glass block towers at each end of a shallow reflecting pool. The towers project video images of faces from a broad social spectrum of Chicago citizens, onto LED screens, (the glass blocks in the painting) and having water flow through a water outlet in the screen to give the illusion of water spouting from their mouths.
In the summer kids can wade and frolic in the pool below these giant photos of faces. The sheer joy can be heard as they stand under the spout of water.
